How a Real Estate Agent Gets a Licence, by Mike Weiland, Real Estate Expert in Downtown Minneapolis.

If you have been considering buying or selling real estate in Downtown Minneapolis you may have been wondering why people hire a real estate agent, and how they get their qualifications. It is important to know how trained and educated the person you will be working with really is. You are, after all , about to engage in a serious financial decision. Maybe the biggest one of your life.

Any real estate agent must be licensed in order to work on your behalf. The licensing requirements to sell real estate  in the State of Minnesota are as follows:

Step 1

Register to take 90 hours of Minnesota Real Estate courses. There are three courses involved, Course l, Course II and Course III. The three courses are 30 hours each.

Step 2

Take the Minnesota State Real Estate examination after you have completed Course l. This is recommended because Course I is the only course material that will appear on the examination. Taking the exam immediately after finishing the course can also increase your odds of passing the exam, versus waiting and forgetting some of the information you learned.

Step 3

Complete Course II and Course III.

real estate law
owner transfer
deeds
contracts

Step 4

Apply for your license through a Minnesota Real Estate Broker. The Broker will submit your license application to the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Without a broker you cannot receive a Minnesota Real Estate License.

Step 5

Take continuing education courses in order to maintain your real estate licenses.

This licensing process is the bare minimum education a real estate salesperson must possess.  In addition, years of experience, an active and prosperous real estate practice, client testimonials, and educational designations such as CRS, ABR, e-Pro, and GRI  are all indicators of a real estate professional who would be a good candidate to represent you.
